Economic Stimulus Reports from the National Council of Nonprofits
The Council, a national organization that advances the vital role and capacity of the nonprofit sector in civil society, has released a series of special reports on the nation's economic recovery. It has chosen to share these reports broadly because individuals and communities are suffering, and it believes that the business, government, and nonprofit sectors need to come together for the common good.

The Foundation Center
Provides news and research about philanthropy in general, tools for finding funders, and online tutorials for everything from proposal writing to nonprofit management.

IRS Guidelines for the Revised Form 990
The new Form 990 was initially released in December 2007 and public charities and certain tax-exempt organizations will be required to use the new form. The revised form will give the IRS and the public a much better view of how exempt organizations operate.

The Planned Giving Design Center
The PGDC provides services designed to assist gift planners in implementing gifts. The website has case studies, articles, news, and tools that include an online calculator that computes sample charitable deductions for charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, charitable gift annuities, and retained life estate agreements.

Independent Sector
Independent Sector is a leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world.  It sponsors research, encourages public policies that support a dynamic, independent sector, and creates resources for staff, boards, and volunteers to improve their organizations and better serve their communities.

Vermont Secretary of State
This website provides assistance to start, expand, or dissolve a nonprofit organization and includes forms, a checklist of considerations for starting or expanding a nonprofit, answers to frequently asked questions, and links to other helpful sites.

Guidestar
The most comprehensive online database of information on nonprofits across the country, including foundations.

Noonmark Services
This company was founded by the former founding executive director of the Vermont Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations (VANPO), Jane A. Van Buren. It publishes a monthly newsletter and is a great resource for nonprofits.

Taymitch & Associates Consulting posted this online job listing in May of 2008 as another way to give back to the Vermont nonprofit community.

Idealist.org
Idealist.org is a website that facilitates connections between individuals and institutions that are interested in improving their communities. The site is run by Action Without Borders and includes a nonprofit job posting section.

Winning Grants Step by Step, by Mim Carlson
A workbook filled with practical advice, suitable for both beginning and experienced grantwriters. Highly recommended.

Pathways Mapping Initiative
A work in progress, this site looks at what works in social programs and policies to achieve desired results.  There are currently two "pathways" in place: school readiness and family economic success.

Better Together
BetterTogether provides interactive ways to celebrate and learn from the ways that Americans are connecting, and provides tools and strategies to reconnect with others.

Vermont Law School

The Center for Social Leadership
The mission of this Washington D.C.-based nonprofit is two-fold: To build the leadership and managerial capacity of nonprofit organizations; and to teach low-income youth the necessary career-building leadership skills to design their own exit strategies from poverty.

Campus Compact
This statewide consortium of 21 college and university presidents and their institutions is committed to promoting civic engagement as a critical component of higher education. It envisions higher education making a significant difference to strengthen Vermont communities and improve the lives of Vermonters.

The Office of Community-University Partnerships and Service-Learning 
CUPS supports active, collaborative UVM-Community partnerships, high quality service-learning, and community-based scholarship. It works to identify relevant resources, education, and incentives. It concentrates on creating partnerships with nonprofits that are integrated with and enhance academic courses.

New Hampshire/Vermont Schweitzer Fellows Program
This program provides service opportunities and support for health professional students and students in health-related disciplines who seek to help those currently underserved by our health care system.
