KELSEY TRUST UPDATE
The Kelsey Trust is a family foundation established in 1988 by Sally Patrick Johnson to benefit the people and protect the environment of the Lake Champlain Basin. The Trust honors the lives and work of Robert Fleming Patrick and Jonathan Kelsey Woods. Since 1989 the Trust has worked with the Vermont Community Foundation, which assists the Trust with its grantmaking.

From its beginnings the Kelsey Trust has sponsored an open-application grants process. Now, in an effort to increase the foundation's impact, the trustees have recently decided that until further notice the Trust will accept grant applications by invitation only. Among other strategies, the trustees intend to make fewer but larger investments in selected Champlain Basin organizations.
