Investment Management
The VCF invests its assets to provide support for Vermont’s current needs and to preserve charitable resources for use by future generations that address new and emerging needs. Our investment policies and asset allocation strategies are developed based on the following objectives:
- To earn a sufficient “real” rate of return that supports the Foundation’s spending policy and maintains the purchasing power of its assets adjusted for inflation in perpetuity.
- To control portfolio risk and volatility in order to provide as much year-to-year spending stability as possible and still meet the Foundation’s return objective.
The Foundation’s investment strategy is long-term and designed to achieve its objectives over time, accounting for both good and challenging years.
